Inspired by Asia’s ancient tea culture, the Dode Small Ceramic Tea & Espresso Cup Set is made for serving teas from across the continent, and equally strong coffee for those who prefer espresso style. Presented in a set of two, both cups are complimented by Javanese teak wood coasters that beautifully combine form with function and are characteristic of Cisco & the Sun ceramics. Available in Brushed White, Natural Earth & Green, Dove Green and Dark Ash.
Due to the nature of being handmade we have found the Natural Earth colour way, cannot sustain heats at boiling point. It can cause a fracture and crack in the ceramic. If being used for boiling water, please consider the Brushed White or Dove Green instead.
Product Care: Being handmade, slight variances may exist within each item, giving uniqueness to glaze, size, texture and weight. These variations add depth and beauty to the ceramic craft, signifying their spirit and dissimilarity to the mass produced.
The naturally mined substances and high-temperature firing make these products food safe and non-toxic, as well as microwave, dishwasher, and oven friendly.

Designer info:
In December of 2016, Cisco Tschurtschenthaler and her husband George Gorrow opened an island stay in Canggu, Bali called The Slow. During the curation of The Slow’s restaurant space, Eat&Drink, Cisco found herself unable to source the precise pieces they had envisioned in the setting, and set about creating her own line of homewares to suit their considered aesthetic and unrelenting dedication to sustainability.
All Cisco & the Sun products are made in Bali and Cambodia by local artisans who apply a methodology of ceramic making that is unique to Sapporo, Japan. Mixing both Asian and Western sensibilities, the pieces are crafted by the sixth sense, or what the Japanese refer to as “wabi sabi”. There are elements within Cisco & the Sun ceramics which you can not see, but you can feel; a comfort beyond the senses that permeates from hand to soul.
Cisco & the Sun works with 3 different types of clay, each of which is sourced from the mineral rich regions of Bali and Cambodia. The clays are enriched with naturally derived nutrients and metallic oxides, which evolve into a spectacular spectrum of colours during our unique ‘reduction’ high-temperature firing process. This technique draws on ancient crafting techniques to create organically beautiful, long-lasting finishes.

Many of our ceramic pieces are paired with golden teak wood from the island of Java; a species of wood which grows over 130 feet and is native to south and southeast Asia. Due to its high oil content it is one of the most durable types of wood available, resilient to usual cracks and aging and set to last you a lifetime.
