Designed in 2006 by Boris Berlin and Poul Christiansen of Komplot Design, this Scandinavian piece has already been the recipient of numerous design awards for its highly innovative and sustainable approach to furniture design.
The Gubi 3D Dining Chairs are the first furniture design to be based on the innovative technique of moulding three-dimensional veneer.
This 3D design gives the chair a comfortable seat and sense of lightness. Ground-breaking technology also allows the thickness of the veneer to be reduced to half of that normally used.

One of Gubi’s most innovative products, the Gubi Chair collection, was designed by Boris Berlin and Poul Christiansen of Komplot Design.
Founded in 1987, Komplot Design, a partnership of Poul Christiansen & Boris Berlin, has designed furniture and created multidisciplinary design solutions for both Danish and international companies. Their Gubi chair design has been displayed in important exhibitions, such as MoMA, 2004 and has won several prestigious awards, including The Danish Design Prize 2004 and the RED DOT Design Award 2004.
Gubi was founded in 1967 by Jacob and Sebastian's parents, Gubi and Lisbeth Olsen. They initially focused on producing Olsen's furniture designs and selling textiles to the retail sector. Eager to make their own mark, the sons opened a concept store and introduced fashion into the equation. In fact, they were amongst the first to import Prada and Helmut Lang to Denmark, returning their focus back to the family business in 2001.
Since then, they have transposed the original creative vision into a contemporary context, putting Gubi on the map as a global player on the design scene. In an ever-changing international landscape, it takes an enormous amount of drive and determination to keep chasing icons. It's that type of endless energy, enthusiasm and entrepreneurial spirit which has catapulted Gubi into an iconic status all its own.
