LUUMO DAY #01
Posted by Claire Morazzano on 12th Nov 2014
Over the last few months, an idea started forming with my husband and I that we would like to start a business doing something that we really love and provides others with that feel good factor.
We spent evening discussing what our ideal jobs would be. Some achievable but not all! For me I always dreamed of being a travel journalist, but those days have probably now past for me with two little children. For Giorgio he would love to be a pro–surfer like Kelly Slater…
Returning to my corporate job after maternity leave, I had the realization, I wanted to be working in a more creative environment. I couldn’t sit down for eight hours after a year of running around with the kids, I constantly wanted to be on the move. I also wanted to work with more flexibility to enable me to work from home and cook dinner for the kids. A few months ago the company I was working for started making redundancies, I felt it was fate giving me that extra push to pursue my passion, and also some much needed cash to set up the business.
When we first thought about opening a Scandinavian homeware and gift company, we instantly thought it was a good idea. When we woke in the morning, we still felt we were on the right track. We both come from very different industries, I’m an Accountant with a media/music background and Giorgio is an interior designer. But the business idea we had complimented both our strengths and passion.
Once the idea came to me to follow my passion and slight addiction!! I knew a Scandinavian homeware and gift business was the right for us. We spent countless hours researching, discussing ideas and services we can include.
A few times I have had ‘the fear’ that it would be easier to go back to Accounting and the security, but I would like to thank my husband for encouraging me to pursue my passion. Also for offering reassurance, when I wake up with the feeling of “Oh my goodness there’s so much to do!”
So we are thrilled to announce that we will be launching LUUMO DESIGN. We have always been drawn to Scandinavian design, in particular the soft minimalism that makes the homes in Scandinavia so comfortable and inviting. We have contacted many of the designers we admire to bring you LUUMO Design. We are working with some of the top Scandinavian designers and each month will be adding more products to make the home more beautiful and comfortable. Our mantra is to only share what we love, so we hope you love the items as much as we do.
At LUUMO we are offering additional services, from e-styling to re-structural work on your home. We are so happy to have two very talented Italian Architects Francesca and Jacopo in the LUUMO Family. Having grown up in the same beautiful Italian city as Giorgio and Marco Morazzano, we are thrilled to have them living in Australia. They are super talented, ambitious and fun. They are experienced architects, with natural style and fresh ideas for the home. If you are living inter-state and would like our services, we are online to conduct skype conversations or to keep updated on progress via email. Our Design Team will then provide you with 3D imagery and mood boards based on the information and measurements given to us. This will help give you a real feel for the new room or building that you desire.
We should also mention, we will be sending out a weekly newsletter. If you would like to receive it please see the section BE OUR FRIEND on the bottom of our home page
We hope to offer you new ideas and suggests for your home, along with LUUMO promotions and seasonal events.
We would also like for you to follow us on our official Social profiles:
We will be keeping you updated with a regular blog of what’s new at LUUMO, any designers we are following, events that are happening here in Sydney or around the world, along with lots of other goodies. We would also love to hear your feedback and suggestions and will endeavor to respond quickly to any questions.
So from someone who has never blogged before and thought they never would, I can say it’s been really enjoyable to write and share my thoughts and aspirations for LUUMO.
2015 is going to be an exciting year – as the online business is only the first stage. Look out for the blog in December when I hope to be able to reveal more about our project.
Wish me good luck and have a great day.
