TRAVEL /// BERRY

Berry is a small town situated 150km from Sydney, it has a certain charm that means you automatically slow down from city life. The regional town has lots of character with beautiful homewares selling wonderful candles, cushions and ceramics. One of my favourites is Cabana Jo’s, set back from the main road in a bright blue shop with hammocks and rattan chairs outside. The Treat factory is well worth a visit, with homemade jams, chutney’s and chocolate. You’ll be tempted by something nice!

There are a range of wineries in the area, my two favorites are Two Figs and Crooked River, close to Shoalhaven. Where you can enjoy a beautiful lunch and enjoy the scenery, along with a glass of the local wine.

The surrounding area of Berry has rolling fields so lush and green and some of the most stunning beaches. One of my favourites has to be Hyams beach, 45 mins drive to Jarvis Bay, or The Farm at Shellharbour, which is a quieter stretch of beach in the stunning Killalea State Park. There’s lots of steps down – just so you know!

If you’re looking for something a bit more active, you can hire stand up paddle board by the hour and head out on Shoalhaven river. Having never paddle board before I had an absolute ball giving this a go.

This part of the coast is so special and so close to Sydney, there really is so much to see and do.

HAPPY EXPLORING !
