GUBI - BL4 FLOOR LAMP MEDIUM BLACK BRASS BASE (VARIOUS COLOURS)
The iconic Bestlite BL4 Floor Lamp, designed by Robert Dudley Best in 1930, was initially adopted by garages and the Royal Air force engineering departments due to its great functionality and adjustable arm. With its numerous finishes, the timeless BL4 Floor Lamp is today perfectly suited as reading light in any contemporary home where additional character is sought for.
A feature in Architects Journal lauding Bestlite with the title of the first evidence of Bauhaus in Britain brought the lamp to the attention of the design conscious. Public demand for the Bestlite lamps soon followed and, when Winston Churchill personally chose the Bestlite BL1 Table Lamp for his desk, Bestlite's iconic status was secured.
The Bestlite design stays close to its industrial roots and true to its original design. Bestlite is held in permanent collections at both the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Design Museum in London. Loved by architects, designers and design aficionados throughout its long history, today, Bestlite has become a contemporary classic.

Bestlite has been in continuous production since 1930. The Bestlite Floor Lamp was designed by Robert Dudley Best who was highly influenced by the Bauhaus. In the past 80 years, people appreciated the lamps and it decorates many homes, hotels and restaurants worldwide. Loved by architects, designers and design aficionados throughout its 80-year history, today, Bestlite enjoys global iconic status.Gubi was founded in 1967 by Jacob and Sebastian's parents, Gubi and Lisbeth Olsen. They initially focused on producing Olsen's furniture designs and selling textiles to the retail sector. Eager to make their own mark, the sons opened a concept store and introduced fashion into the equation. In fact, they were amongst the first to import Prada and Helmut Lang to Denmark, returning their focus back to the family business in 2001.
Since then, they have transposed the original creative vision into a contemporary context, putting Gubi on the map as a global player on the design scene. In an ever-changing international landscape, it takes an enormous amount of drive and determination to keep chasing icons. It's that type of endless energy, enthusiasm and entrepreneurial spirit which has catapulted Gubi into an iconic status all its own.
