Understated sophistication, timeless aesthetics, and outstanding craftsmanship are the hallmarks of the highly practical Private Sideboard by Space Copenhagen. Inspired by antique Japanese furniture in both style and craft, this oak-veneered sideboard is elevated by two vertical legs, held together by a single horizontal beam, giving strength in structure and yet lightness in appearance. Available in brown/black or light-stained finishes, the body comprises four symmetrical soft-close drawers, each with antique brass finish metal handles. The long, slim top is an excellent surface for ornaments or artworks. Designed to fit snugly against the walls of a living room, dining room or bedroom, or even paired up and placed back-to-back, the Private Sideboard fits perfectly with the other elements from the collection. Classic design, excellent workmanship and immense versatility and functionality ensure that the Private Sideboard will be cherished more and more over time.

Designer info
The kinship between Space Copenhagen and GUBI is defined by a shared philosophy that combines a signature of elegant simplicity with a cosmopolitan international outlook. Prioritizing functionality and personality in design while focusing on a few effective details has resulted in a self-assured design universe that emphasizes a sense of spaciousness and identity paired with a nuanced understanding of materials and craftsmanship.

Gubi was founded in 1967 by Jacob and Sebastian's parents, Gubi and Lisbeth Olsen. They initially focused on producing Olsen's furniture designs and selling textiles to the retail sector. Eager to make their own mark, the sons opened a concept store and introduced fashion into the equation. In fact, they were amongst the first to import Prada and Helmut Lang to Denmark, returning their focus back to the family business in 2001.

Since then, they have transposed the original creative vision into a contemporary context, putting Gubi on the map as a global player on the design scene. In an ever-changing international landscape, it takes an enormous amount of drive and determination to keep chasing icons. It's that type of endless energy, enthusiasm and entrepreneurial spirit which has catapulted Gubi into an iconic status all its own.
